Mike Rankin

Name: Mike Rankin
Race Number CS264 (previously SL152)
How did you get involved in Autograss? It's a long story, basically, I was doing a website for a guy trying to start a new Stockcar track. It wasn't happening, and my Dad (Wee Jock) and I decided to investigate Autograss as an alternative. Guy wasn't interested as he was into bangers but I was hooked 1st meeting (I still have it on vid somewhere), but it was a bit far to travel. A year later I started racing Stock Hatch at Solway after doing a deal with my Brother for My Stock Rod.
Have you been involved in any other motorsport? Brought up with Stock cars, been going to those meeting since I was a toddler. Supported My cousin (Shuggy) when he raced saloons @ Newtongrange. Raced stock rods at Cowdie and the Tri-oval @ Knockhill in 2004.

Enjoy most types of motorsports.

Does online stock car racing count? Used to help Run the "Banger world series" a Sunday night racing league for banger racing.
Who is your hero? not really got one
What have you done that you’re most proud of? passed my driving test with a broken wrist!
If you won the lottery, what would be the first addition in your garage? A new garage would be nice first both mine are rotten!
What is your "claim to fame"? Aided in bringing Autograss to Scotland and being CS membership secretary since day 1

2nd in CS Club championship in it's first season (GRRRRR Simon Laing CS69. Couldn't have lost to a better person.)

CS Stock Hatch champion in 2007.

Stock Hatch CS264 Mike Rankin
First Introduced to autograss in 2004 after myself and My dad(John Rankin Or Wee Jock) investigaed it for a venture that someone was trying to get up and running. Decided we like what we saw and tryed to promote it north of the border. Decided it was to far to travel and went into Stock rod where I first started racing in 2004 at cowdenbeath under number 264 in the stock rods. Managed 6 meeting(3 at Kncokhill and 3 at The Racewall) but never really enjoyed it.

At the end of the 2004 Season was unsure what to do till my brother offered me a swap for the stock Rod and in 2005 I took to the road traveling to Solway Autograss club and competeing in 3 meeting that year Racing underthe number SL152. Enjoying everyone thoughly and found it well worth the trip. During this time Drew and my dad got in contact with each other, a website was created and The first CSAC driver meeting took place on 6th March 2005.

Another Year down the Line In 2006 and plans For Central Scotland took place and I became Membership Secretary. The track was errected and in June 2006 The first ever Scottish Autograss meeting was held. I managed to Come second in the CS Club Championship to CS69(CS1 for 2007)Simon Laing after Racing on what was to be a very muddy and not really Ideal temporary race track accross the road from the previous site.

Still Racing the same Car as in 2005, 2007 brought a good racing season with mixed fortunes and Some really good racing in Stock Hatch with Bruce bertram (CS28), Andy Watson(CS21), Andy Fraser(CS30), Paul Bremner(CS37) and Our first Stock Hatch Visitors Heath Luck(YD811) and Steve Binks (YD81). In the end I claimed the Stockhatch Class title! WOO HOO!

What does 2008 hold Who Know! hopefully more fun, laughter and Good Racing (and Maybe another class?!?!?!).
