The Club Forming - 1938

The story of Lanarkshire Car Club goes back to 1938, when a car section was formed as part of the Lanarkshire Motor Cycle and Car Club. (See document)(See transcript)

The club as formed in 1938 was short-lived because everything fizzled out in 1939 – presumably due to the outbreak of war.

Nothing more happened until 1952, when John Y Robertson called a meeting to revive the Lanarkshire Motor Cycle and Car Club (See document). The subscription of ten shillings per annum was retained.

The next notable date is 1959, at which time, the car section separated from the motorcycle enthusiasts to create two new clubs. The Lanarkshire Motorcycle Club is still active in the motorcycle trials scene today.

Throughout the years, Lanarkshire Car Club members have remained active, organising and competing in many different types of motorsport events.
