Report on Committee Meeting 7th April 2008
At the above committee meeting the following things were discussed:
The club will be applying for a grant from Perth and Kinross council
The Crimond meeting has been approved by NASA (there is an item on the forum regarding this). These will be demonstration races, NOT competitive.
The rules for registering on the forum have been tightened up. Again there is an item on the forum with all the information
We are looking for sponsors for the club. We need class sponsors and sponsors to be displayed in the programme. These can either be full page ads or half page. Contact Ian McRae (number on contacts page) for info and prices
We have a huge list of jobs to be done for the forthcoming work party (12/13 April) in order for the first race meeting to take place:-
- ALL the catch fencing,
- ALL the wire ropes,
- ALL the Armco,
- LOTS of posts still to be put in place,
- Wire-up the tannoy and start line.
- Rope-off spectator and pit areas
- ROLL the track
NASA invoice has been paid along with materials for the track, so can those who still have to apply for their race licences do so ASAP
It has been decided that the Chief Marshall will be located on top of race control and will have the button to start the race
There are over 70 people that have applied for licences so far, but we know there are a lot more still to come. Please remember that there is less than 2 weeks til race time
The social secretary is looking into possible fundraisers. As we will have to cancel the meeting on 12/13 July due to T in the Park it has been suggested we do something then. With hopefully a lot more throughout the year
Club T-shirts are now for sale. See home page for details
I has been decided to make the work party points equal to 3rd place 21 points, this is in accordance with this years change of points system
Report on committee meeting 18th February
The committee met for their second meeting of 2008 on 18th February.
The new officials appointed at the AGM are now getting settled in to their new positions. Johnie McArthur has been getting the equipment he needs for scrutineering, including wirelocking pliers for sealing engines. You have been warned!
The Safety Officers now have their Accident Report Book, and are making progress on their Risk Assessments, but we still need to get the fire extinguishers tested, and to acquire a fire blanket.
The Treasurer reported that the NASA invoice had arrived, which adds some urgency to the need for members to renew their licences and ease our cashflow.
It was agreed that Chief Marshal would be better positioned on the outside of the track, at the Finish line and preferably in an elevated position, - perhaps on a cherry-picker or scaffolding. Some modifications to the start gantry were agreed, to add lane position numbers.
Once the Scrutineering team get up to speed, and certainly before the first race meeting, a full procedure for the sealing of engines will be published. What we can say at this point is that any complaints by one competitor against another, must be in writing, and will have to be accompanied by a protest fee.
To eliminate any confusion about race points, these will be displayed throughout the day (where resources allow). A laptop computer will be sourced to help speed up the process.
Iain Robertson was keen that new Juniors should be given more practice time on the track, possibly even a novice race. To make this possible, scrutineering will be moved off the race track, into the paddock.
The club has had the offer of a puting on a promotional event at Crimmond during the summer, but the committee feel is it is a long way to go for one or two races. Drew is still working on this.
Iain Robertson is going to get some samples of club tee shirts & sweatshirts, and will make these available to members at race meetings, and through the website.
Dateline 25th November 2007
AGM 2007
The club held its Annual General Meeting in the Crossgates British legion on 25th November. It was very encouraging that so many members came forward to fill the various positions, and the fully committee is listed here.
A draft Constitution & Rules, was presented, and after some discussion and a few amendments, this was agreed and adopted.
Dateline 8th September 2007
The club funds were boosted by £700 following a very successful Disco & Race Night. Our thanks to all concerned with the organisation of this event.
